One of Vietnam’s truly unique homestay experiences

Spend an unforgettable day with a local fishing family on one of Tri An Lake’s only inhabited islands. You will have the island to yourself along with the family and will get to experience their traditional way of life. You can go fishing, take a boat ride to visit one of the local raft fishing villages, go swimming and help prepare a traditional Vietnamese meal with the family. Or simply relax in a hammock by the lake side. If a true rural Vietnamese homestay experience, away from the tourist crowds is what you are craving than this opportunity should not be missed.

The house is a simple traditional wooden house and infrastructure is basic. The family is lovely and welcoming and will ensure your stay is comfortable. You also have the option to sleep outside in tents or hammocks if you prefer.

Tri An is one of Vietnam’s largest freshwater reservoirs and protects a variety of aquatic species and habitats. It is managed as part of the broader Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve and so development is minimal. You will experience peace and quiet in a very relaxed setting and watch the fisherman carry out their daily activities. It is quite remarkable this virtually untouched region is located 70km, or 2 hours from Ho Chi Minh City. After the homestay you can continue to explore this region and spend time in the forest, cycling through the countryside or visiting the Cho-Ro ethnic minority group.

*This is part of a new ecotourism project with Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve; we are working with local communities to develop sustainable tourism industry to benefit our community and minimize their reliance on the forest for income. By visiting the reserve and participating in our tours you are actively contributing to protecting Vietnam’s wildlife and local communities.
